FSSC 22000 – Food Safety Management System
FSSC 22000 (Food Safety System Certification) is one of the world’s most recognized food safety certification schemes, designed to help organizations ensure comprehensive food safety, prevent contamination, meet regulatory requirements, and build trust across the global food supply chain.
This scheme combines ISO 22000, Prerequisite Program (PRP) standards such as ISO/TS 22002-1, and additional FSSC requirements to create a complete, comprehensive, and reliable Food Safety Management System.
FSSC 22000 applies to all organizations within the food supply chain — food and beverage manufacturers, packaging, feed producers, transport, distribution, catering, specific retail operations, and other supporting entities.
FSSC 22000 (Version 6) – Current Version
The latest version, FSSC 22000 Version 6, emphasizes several key principles:

ISO 22000-Based Food Safety Management System (FSMS)
Requires organizations to implement food safety management based on ISO 22000, including HACCP, hazard analysis, CCP/OPRP controls, and internal–external communication mechanisms.

Mandatory PRP Requirements
Covers the required Prerequisite Programs (PRP) according to category:

ISO/TS 22002-1 for food manufacturing

ISO/TS 22002-4 for packaging

ISO/TS 22002-6 for feed

NEN/NTA and other PRPs for additional categories
These PRPs ensure that the production environment meets standards for hygiene, sanitation, facilities, pest control, personal hygiene, and other operational controls.
